History

The parent corporation, HCAâ€"Hospital Corporation of America is based in Nashville, Tennessee. HCA, a for-profit hospital corporation, purchased these hospitals in 2003 from Health Midwest, Inc., a non-profit hospital corporation.

HCA's focus nationwide has been to realign their facilities to better serve primary markets, avoid duplication of services, and increase profits. Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center, a former HCA Midwest Health hospital, closed in April 2006 and was renamed Research Medical Center-Brookside Campus. Centerpoint Medical Center opened in May 2007. Lee's Summit Medical Center, opened in a new Lee's Summit location in August 2007.

In 2014 into 2015, HCA Midwest went through a rebranding process that included a new company name, new company logo, vision statement, mission statement along with a new set of values for the company as a whole. For a majority of 2014, these changes only impacted the hospitals themselves, but in July 2015, HCA Midwest Health shared its rebranded system to Kansas City using advertisements featuring a young Kansas City native, Davis, who shows how HCA Midwest is different from other local hospitals and is taking a turn for the better.
